The final refuse disposal site for the district became full and overflowing its boundaries .The site serves as the dumping site for both the Fanteakwa South District Assembly and the Abuakwa
South Municipal Assembly. Due to the this, there’s pressure on the site and needs to be worked on periodically. The dumps which have become an eye sore and poses a breeding ground of pests of public health concern.
A two day exercise was successfully conducted in pushing and levelling the disposal site under the supervision of staff of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the two Assemblies.
Also present were the Zoomlion district manager.

A grader was used to push level and spread the solid waste measuring about 5m high covering an area of almost the entire site.
Trenches were then made after the compaction on the sides of the waste beds to serve as run off channels. This will prevent the skip loaders from getting stuck when they tipped off the waste.
Fumigation of the site was also done to control breeding of insects of public health concern.
