The District Chief Executive for the Fanteakwa South District Assembly Hon Ernest Ofosu on friday 10th March 2023 led a high-power delegation from the Judicial service of Ghana to commission an Ultra-modern court complex at Osino the capital of Fanteakwa South District Assembly.
Hon. Ofosu in his address, commended the Omanhene of Osino Osabarima Otu Darko and his council for making available the land for the construction of the noble project. He further stated that, the administration of justice is now at the doorstep of constituents, hence it will be a key component in the fight against illegal mining particularly galamsey and other criminal activities which is prevalent in the district.
The project was solely financial by a quota of the District Assembly Commonfund. The Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Kwasi Anim Yeboah expressed his delight about the facility adding that it meets a very high standard in the administration of justice.
He however disclosed that upon assumption of office he held series of meetings with his predecessor and later followed it up with the administrator of the District Assembly Commonfund on the need for the MMDAs to renovate and construct court complexes in the MMDAs in order to bring the administration of justice to the people at the local level.
He was, however, excited that his meetings have yielded a fruitful result.
Justice Anim Yeboah intimated that, “The court remains the constitutional mandated countervailing mechanism for the sustenance of peace and democracy which we have enjoyed in the thirty years under the 4th republic”.
The court complex is multifunctional and well equipped with solar power, generator set, borehole, an ultra-court hearing room, magistrate office, security office and a registry office. It also has a basic level of automation installed in it purposely to ensure efficiency.
Justice Anim Yeboah in his concluding remarks charged the functionaries of the court to maintain the facility and use it according to lay down standards for the long-term benefit for the people of Osino. The Chief of Osino Osabarima Otu-Darko was very elated about the project because it was the very first time the people of Osino have had the presence of a judicial system in the district. He however noted that the illegal mining activities in the district have attracted criminal activities as well drug peddlers.
The revered Chief pleaded with the law enforcement officers to prosecute such offenders to promote peace. He also added that, Nananom are committed to supporting any progressive developmental activities in the district.
