CENSUS NIGHT MARKED

Census night, was marked in the District on the 17th of January, 2021 to mark the beginning of enumeration activities in the pilot census being undertaken by the Statistical Service. The poor education and publicity embarked upon by the National Team that came to the District to prepare the citizenry culminated in only five members of the public joining the National team, the enumerators and supervisors, the DCE, the DCD, the DIO, the DCO, and the DS, to commemorate the event.
Speaking at the event the DCE pleaded the citizens around to come take seats and listen to what will be said so they will be informed about the event to take place in the District. He said he was delighted this was taking place here and at this time. He asked citizens to open and forthcoming with answers to the questions the enumerators will ask in order that accurate and rich data will be garnered for the development agenda of the District. He further stated that, should the main census be called off due to the pandemic; which he hopes will not be the case, we, in Fanteakwa South will have gotten the data we need for our development strategy.
The National team took turns explaining the processes and benefits of the census and the reasoning behind the event. After the speeches, there was the display of fireworks to signify the beginning of the exercise. The Skyline of the district was lit with different radiant colours of the firecrackers.
