DEVELOPMENT PLANNING SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING

The Development Planning Sub-Committee meeting was convened on 26th April, 2024 at the Assembly Hall of Fanteakwa District Assembly, with a singular focus on deliberating on developmental issues. Chairperson  Samuel Kpaatey  welcomed the members, and the meeting commenced with a sense of purpose.

First on the agenda was Concerns expressed on the haphazard development of buildings within communities in the district. The committee therefore highlighted that management of the Assembly should resources the Physical Planning Department to prepare local plans to guide physical development in communities.

Mr. Mohammed Murjaanatu member of the committee stated that the Osino and Saamang communities were faced with power fluctuations, and the discussion led to the committee recommending that, management should notify the Electricity Company of Ghana – Tafo to do an assessment on transformers in the mentioned communities to help resolve the issue of power fluctuation.

Ayim James Kwabena also expressed dissatisfaction on the deplorable nature of roads in the district. The committee therefore demanded that management should undertake reshaping of deplorable roads in the district to aid mobility.

Issues on the current water situation in the district were also discussed with the conclusion that management should plan for the construction of small-town water systems within communities to expand the coverage of access to safe water.

They Also expressed concerns on over speeding by drivers on the main road right in front of the Fanteakawa South District Assembly Office. They stated that the due to the over speeding of vehicles most people find it difficult to come to the district for their needs to be solved. The committee therefore stated that the Assembly should construct a speed ramp on the road in front of the District Assembly Office to help reduce over speeding.

The meeting adjourned with a sense of accomplishment, the committee members already looking forward to the next meeting, ready to tackle the challenges ahead.-
