CONFIRMATION OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENTS NOMINEE, HON. ENERST OFOSU AS THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE FANTEAKWA SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ON THURSDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBER, 2021.
After the Announcement of the Presidents Nomination of Two Hundred and Sixty (260) Metropolitan,
Municipal, and District Chief Executives by the Local Government Minister. The Fanteakwa South
District Assembly holds its confirmation of the Presidents nominee for the District Chief Executive
Position on Thursday September 30, 2021.
The event commenced at 4:30pm with a prayer by the President of Council of Churches, Mr. Prince
Agyeman.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr. John Vaadi, informed the gathering that since the President has
nominated Hon. Ernest Ofosu, the Presiding Member as the District Chief Executive, it was deemed
appropriate for the Hon. Members to elect a Member to preside over the days agenda by referencing
Section 17-18 of the Local Government Act 2016(Act 936).
Motion for Member Presiding
Upon the advice of the District Coordinating Director to the Hon. Members, Hon. Tetteh Padi Emmanuel
moved a motion that, Hon. Owereko Mensah who is a Government appointee presides over the days
agenda. The motion was seconded by Hon. Johnson Asare Appiah.
2.0 ADDRESS BY HON. MEMBER PRESIDNG
The Hon. Member Presiding, Hon. Owereko Mensah, thanked the House for honoring him the
opportunity to preside over the day’s agenda. He requested Hon. Members vote massively to make sure
the days programme would be successful. He finally entreated all to contribute to the days agenda.

4.0 PROCEDURES FOR CONFIRMATION OF DCE BY THE ELECTORAL COMMISION

The district Electoral Officer, Mr. Anthony Ajakemeh gave a brief presentation on the procedures for
confirmation of DCE to the gathering. In his submission, he informed the gathering that, His Excellency
the President has nominated Hon. Ernest Ofosu as the District Chief Executive, but it was upt to Hon.
Members to confirm him by giving him 2/3 of their votes which is 66.6%. He further mentioned that, if
members really wanted Hon. Ernest Ofosu to become the District Chief Executive, then they should
give him the nob by voting massively for him. He stated that, if the Presidents nominee does not get the
2/3 majority, then the Electoral Commission has the mandate to organize re-voting in Ten (10) working
days. He finally wished all members well in their voting process.
5.0 ELECTION OF DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE
All Twenty Seven (27) Hon. Members cast their votes as prescribed by the Electoral Commission
accordingly. At the end of the voting, Hon. Ernest Ofosu, the President nominee polled Twenty Seven
(27) out of the Twenty Seven (27) total votes cast representing 100 % which metaphors yes for Hon.
Ernest Ofosu as the District Chief Executive elect at Fanteakwa South District with total endorsement
from all the Assembly Members. Below are the results:

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong swore the new District Chief Executive
into office. He administered the oath of allegiance, oath of secrecy and the official oath. He requested
Hon. Ernest Ofosu to adhere to the oaths he took because a violation of any of them would lead to a
bitter experience while in office, he finally wished him well.
7.0 ACCEPTANCE SPEECH BY THE HON. DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Hon. Ernest Ofosu, the District Chief Executive thanked the Almighty God, the president of the
Republic for the honor done him. He also thanked and commended the Hon. Assembly Members for the
confidence reposed in him as the District Chief Executive of Fanteakwa South District. He informed the
gathering that, he would work closely with Hon. Members to tackle the development concerns in the
district. He lamented that, he operates the open door policy so members should work hand in hand
closely with his administration to protect and project the district. He stressed on the need for the
citizenry to promote togetherness and entreated all Hon. Members to contribute their quota to the
development of the district. He concluded by thanking the president of the Republic, His Excellency
Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for the opportunity given him to represent him at the Local level.
