SOD CUTTING TO BUILD CLASSROOM BLOCK AND A TOILET FACILITY FANTEAKWA SOUTH ON THE 2ND JULY 2024

 

Hon Kofi Okyere Agyekum the member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South Constituency, Hon Ernest Ofosu, The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa South District together with the Other Dignitaries cuts sod to build Six(6) units Classroom block and a Twelve (12) Seater W/C Toilet Facility at Akyem Hemang D/A Primary school in the Fanteakwa South district.

The School Building when completed will have a six unit classroom block with headmaster’s office.  There would be a 12 Seater water closet (WC) facility for the school use.

Mr Akosah Addo the  Education Director for the Assembly thanked the dignitaries for the support they give to education in the Fanteakwa South District.

He again elaborated on the importance of education and what the government has done to support education in our district therefore asked all to support to do more.

The Hon. Member of Parliament made mention some projects in the Akyem Hemang community that’s the (500 capacity town hall, Dome KG block with ancillary facilities, SDA KG block and the road construction ongoing including town roads.

Cluste-Based Engagement with JHS 3 Students in the Fanteakwa South District Assembly.

The District Education Directorate on the 1st July 2024 engages 2024 BECE candidates registered in the District as they prepare to write this year’s BECE from Monday, 08/07/2024.

The engagement session focused on providing guidance and support to the BECE candidates, ensuring they are well-prepared for the upcoming exams. Students were briefed on exam protocols, study tips, etc.

DISTRICT STATISTICAL UNIT OF THE ASSEMBLY ORGANISED 2024 DISTRICT MULTIDIMENTIONAL POVERTY INDEX MEETING

The statistical unit of the Fanteakwa South District on the 29th June 2024  had a meeting with the affected departments whose indices have gravely impacted the human development index of the District per the data of the last census. This meeting was to expose the data and lapses in those areas and focus on strategies to reverse and improve of the living standards of the individuals and the community as a whole thereby improving the Region’s performance nationally. The Agric Department and Business Advisory Department were the worst performing and were asked to find solutions to turn around their indices.

The Health Director spoke on behalf of the Health Insurance Scheme and promised improvement since land has been acquired for the construction of their offices and handed over to them to begin work. Issues to deal with housing and housing related issues were addressed by the works unit of the Assembly. The Education department mounted a defence by saying they implement policy for the government and so have to send the feedback back to the apprioprate quarters for effective decision making.

In conclusion all agreed to double their effforts to take the District off this list in tandem with the central governments policy direction and resource allocation.

2024 GREEN GHANA (PRESERVING THE ENVIRONMENT IN THE FANTEAKWA SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY)

Celebrating the Green Ghana Day in Fanteakwa South District, the Event was held at Saamang on the 7th June 2024 and was grace by many Dignitries in the Districts.

Mr. Kofi Daffour Dartey, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) OF Kibi Goldfields mining, said the Kibi Goldfields Mining has released 20 acres of reclamation lands for Forestry Commission on the tree planting Project to advocate for a concerted effort to promote the cultivation and protection of trees so therefore urged all to support the Green Ghana Project to preserve the environment.

The DMD used the Occasion to expressed worry on the way and manner the Galamsey activities in Fanteakwa South District has been destroying the forest and their legal Concertion is alarming. He therefore used the Opportunity to called on Government to enforce the law on Galamsey activities to protect the environment and stressing,

the Green Ghana Day highlight the collective dedication to environmental sustainability, while underscoring the importance of proactive measures against pressing environmental challenges that includes Climate change, Deforestation especially, by illegal Mining activity and Water Pollution.

The District Assistant Manager of Forestry Commission in the Fanteakwa Districst Assembly Mr. Adomako Asare encouraged all to support and rally behind the Green Ghana initiative to preserve the environment by protecting water bodies and Climate Change to exceed target.

He States, the planting exercise which aimed at replenishing Ghana’s depleted forest cover under the theme: “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow.” is to safeguard the planet for present and gusture generation.

He emphasized that this year’s target is to plant over 10 million tree seedlings to underscore the ambitious goals and revealed that the Fanteakwa South District has taken delivery of 65000 seedlings made up of different tree species on degraded mining lands especially, “Dwarso” a suburb of Osino and believes will help tackle climate change due to depletion of forest.

In his Remarks, the District Chief Executive of  Fanteakwa South Hon. Ernest Ofosu,  bemoaned the rate of destruction caused to forest cover especially through illegal mining activities, he is hopeful the Green Ghana Project will help restore depleted forest to help preserve vegetative cover of the environment and promote climate change mitigation.

He lauded the Green Ghana initiative has potential to enhance economic opportunities, preserve and mitigate the threat of illegal mining thereby safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Hon. Ernest Ofosu, called on residents to prioritize planting, nurturing and protection of trees to ensure the Government’s Greening Ghana project succeed, whiles warned the illegal Miners that’s Galamsayers to desist from the uncultured attitude.

ENVIRONMENTAL UNIT HELD A MEETING TO ASSESS WORK DONE BY STAFFS IN THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS

On 3rd June 2024 The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Fanteakwa South District Assembly held a meeting to assess the various works done by each Staff in the department.

The meeting was Cheered by the District Environmental Health Analyst Mr. Yengbe Harrison with Presentations by the various Area councils on the Progress of work.

Mr Yengbe Addressed the staffs on their punctuality towards work and encouraged them to be punctual always and also stated some punishments that would be meted out to staff who absent themselves from work

He advised them to start filling of appraisal for the year and Signing of the attendance sheet

A presentation on the Assembly Bye laws by the district Environmental Health Officer was done by madam Felicity district Environmental Health Officer who gave a presentation on the bye laws

Further in their discussion was gender ratio among the teaching and non-teaching staffs which Osino Area Council did not include in their presentation. Birimangya Area Council did not present on how regular the school clean and change their filters.
