The Health Department of the District Assembly is responsible for promoting public health, preventing diseases, and ensuring access to quality healthcare services within the district. It plays a critical role in improving the well-being of residents and supporting overall community development.

Key Roles:

  1. Public Health Promotion – Educates communities on hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and healthy living practices.

  2. Disease Prevention and Control – Implements vaccination programs, monitors outbreaks, and manages endemic diseases to reduce health risks.

  3. Primary Healthcare Delivery – Coordinates with health facilities to ensure basic health services, maternal and child care, and emergency medical care are available to all.

  4. Sanitation and Environmental Health – Works to maintain clean water supply, proper waste disposal, and environmental sanitation in communities.

  5. Collaboration – Partners with the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, NGOs, and community leaders to deliver effective health programs.

  6. Monitoring and Reporting – Tracks health indicators, reports on community health issues, and advises the Assembly on public health policies and interventions.
